ABOUT THIS SITE

AIDSHousingLA.org contains the HousingSearch database which details resources and services available to case managers, housing case managers and people living with HIV/AIDS.

AIDSHousingLA.org was developed as the first HIV-specific housing database in Los Angeles County through supplemental HOPWA funds distributed during the past year. This database and other information that is accessible on this site provides a range of options from factsheets of housing information to current available housing at different facilities throughout the county. Also available are detailed factsheets on government programs such as Section 8, Hotel/Meal Vouchers and the HOPWA Short-Term Assistance Program.

AIDSHousingLA.org has extensive working relationships with all other ASOs throughout Los Angeles County. This site will utilize these relationships to increase the amount of housing information available on the site. Periodically, we will survey the geographic areas represented in the database and increase outreach efforts to any areas that are underrepresented. In addition to the information received from other ASOs, AIDSHousingLA.or employs a full-time staff member whose primary responsibility is to research potential housing resources. This staff member will also develop relationships with property owners in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County.

This site was developed as a means to maintain a centralized, countywide housing information clearinghouse. AIDSHousingLA.org provides referral information to the entire range of housing services -from emergency and transitional to hospice and permanent housing. As the epidemic has shifted, the emphasis on housing options has shifted from assisted living to more permanent, independent living solutions. At the same time many people living with HIV/AIDS are presented with other needs; substance abuse or sober living needs, to being able to access resources for supplemental or emergency food, transportation and legal resources.
